Columbia Art Studios Charette
5/19/08 - Tripp Riley and Wes Lyles from Studio 2LR participated in a two-day design charette hosted by the Columbia Development Corporation, Columbia Design League, and the City of Columbia, SC.
Architects, land planners, developers and bankers met with local artists and community members to develop a program for an artists' community to be situated on a brownfield site within the city center. Programmatic elements include:
- Private Studio Space
- Shared Studio Space
- Gallery Space
- Housing
- Community Access
- Shared Workspace
- Classrooms
- Small Retail Component
- Pedestrian Oriented
Two 4-person design teams worked over the two days to produce plans, elevations, and renderings which were presented to the local community and media.
